Amsterdam Light Festival: Shaping the world
A colourful abstract city
For the Amsterdam Light Festival 2014, Todd van Hulzen and Studio Louter joined forces to develop the projection World of shapes, shaping the world. At the prow of Science Center NEMO, a colourful, abstract city is projected that gradually transforms into geometric and mathematical patterns, after which these patterns will once again form a city.
The installation consists of a long strip of slides that slowly slides through the projector, and is based on a centuries-old technique called the magic lantern. The projection is open for viewing from 28 November to 10 January.
