Jewish Historical Museum: Charlotte Salomon
Charlotte’s life in paintings
Studio Louter produced a short introductory film about the life and work of Charlotte Salomon for the Jewish Historical Museum. This Jewish artist, who died in concentration camp Auschwitz when she was 26, painted her harrowing life story between 1941-1942. This, among others, resulted in a book of over 800 pages called “Leben? Oder Theater?”.
There was hardly any material available for the biographic film. That is why we have used Charlotte Salomon’s autobiographic gouaches. This film quite literally depicts her own world.
