Grote Kerk Veere: Daring experience installations
Dare to be inspired in Veere
The Grote Kerk in Veere knows a turbulent past. It endured fire and storm, served as a military hospital during the Napoleonic War, and was barely saved from demolition in the 19th century. After an extensive restoration, the past of the church will be brought back to life.
Together with OPERA Amsterdam, Studio Louter develops a visitor experience in this special building. Spread across the church, visitors will discover six experience installations where they come into contact with the history of this place in a daring way. Many people, such as painters and writers, came to Veere to find inspiration. This time we challenge visitors to search for theirs. Do they dare to look at a mummified cat? Do they have the courage to get married in the church, just like the Scottish princess Mary Stuart did in the 15th century? And are they brave enough to climb in a net high above the ground to hear stories about the wounded soldiers, who once lay there, on the now missing floor? The six experience installations challenge visitors in every possible way.
