Kunsthal: Andries Beeckman
Differences between the master and follower
The seventeenth-century painter Andries Beeckman was one of the few painters who travelled to the Dutch East Indies. His detailed paintings of Batavia were known throughout Europe. He also made colourful miniatures of inhabitants and animals of the Dutch East Indies. For the Kunsthal Rotterdam, Studio Louter produced a touchscreen application that shows how the miniatures have been incorporated into a large painting. This touchscreen can also be used to compare the painting by Beeckman with that of a follower.
