The Museum of the Amsterdam Canals: Vingboons on the iPad
Experience life in the Canal House!
The Museum of the Amsterdam Canals presents the history of the Amsterdam canals. It has one important piece in its collection: the house itself. In 2014 the property celebrates its 350-year anniversary. To mark this anniversary, the Canal House wants draw more attention to the history of the building and its residents. Studio Louter creates several informative ‘viewers’ who offer a unique glimpse into the world of the upper middle class.
With eight interactive iPads, the ‘Vingboons viewers’, visitors can discover the history of the house. Through the camera, the visitor looks into the space, but the iPad’s graphic layer brings different interiors and people to life. Not only the original architecture and interior design by architect Philip Vingboons are displayed, but also the many changes that the house has undergone over the years.
You can even take a picture of yourself with the house’s past residents. This way you briefly experience life in an Amsterdam canal house!
