Tropenmuseum: Things That Matter

The personal stories behind objects

In the new permanent exhibition of the Tropenmuseum, people tell stories about objects that have a deep personal meaning to them. Based on these stories and objects, the museum challenges visitors to reflect on current social issues such as migration and origin. Commissioned by the Tropenmuseum, Studio Louter developed three interactives about ‘Things That Matter’.

The first interactive lets you experience the beauty of language. Visitors have the opportunity to learn the intricacies of Arabic calligraphy from a real master: the French-Tunisian artist eL Seed. A music application lets you hear nostalgic music from artists from all over the world and during a knowledge quiz visitors discover that religions have more in common than one may think.
