Guidance through faith
Museum Gouda, Gouda (NL) , 2026
Whether you are religious or atheist, everyone believes in something. That belief provides a sense of grounding. The introductory film for the temporary exhibition at Museum Gouda explores the meaning of faith and belief.
A strong beginning
For the temporary exhibition Faith, Studio Louter and Shosho developed an introductory film and a series of audio stories commissioned by Museum Gouda. The film not only introduces the exhibition thematically, but also immediately encourages visitors to reflect: what do you actually believe in? This way, the introduction becomes a personal invitation for visitors to explore the theme from their own perspective.
Asking questions
The film explores the theme of faith through personal reflections by three guest curators: writer Arnon Grunberg, human rights lawyer Naema Tahir, and columnist and presenter Stephan Sanders. Their conversations are interwoven with a selection of artworks from the Rijksmuseum collection that resonate with them, inviting viewers to discover connections and meaning for themselves

Collaboration
The exhibition ‘Faith’ is part of the triptych Faith Hope and Love, a series of travelling exhibitions by the collaborating M6 (Museum Gouda, Markiezenhof, Hannemahuis, Westfries Museum, Stedelijk Museum Zutphen and Limburgs Museum), in collaboration with the Rijksmuseum. Together with the museum team, we developed an introductory film that is not tied to a single specific location, but works effectively across different presentations and for a wide range of audiences.
“This exhibition is about what connects us. About the rituals, questions, and desires that everyone encounters throughout their lives.”
