The ship of dreams

Titanic Belfast, Belfast (GB), 2023

The Titanic: the ship, the disaster, the film, the myth. No maritime disaster has been written and talked about more than the sinking of the RMS Titanic.

Four new galleries

Titanic Belfast tells the story of the most famous passenger ship in history, from the craft’s construction to the discovery of the wreck in 1985. Studio Louter and OPERA Amsterdam, developed a concept and design for four permanent galleries in the museum.

The Pursuit of Dreams

The story of Titanic is one of great loss and sadness but there is also another perspective; one of hope, ambition and determination. About the people of Belfast who had the ambition to build the biggest and most luxurious ship in the world, about people who were pursuing their dreams to start a new life in a new world. And about a young boy who dreamt of exploring the ocean bottom and finding Titanic's lost wreck. What they share is the Pursuit of Dreams. This human quality of dreaming big became the core of our narrative and presentation techniques.

Titanic Model

An immersive show brings the ‘Ship of Dreams’ to life together with a suspended, rotating, illuminated Titanic model that is almost 8 meters long, accompanied by dreamscape projections and an emotive soundscape. The show depicts the creation of the largest ship ever and introduces the stories of those who worked on and travelled with her. The show gives visitors the chance to immerse themselves in their dreams and hopes.

“This fabulous replica Titanic model gives visitors the chance to immerse themselves in the dreams and stories of the passengers.”
