Master the Universe

University Museum Utrecht, Utrecht (NL), 2010

Theoretical physics is invisible. A kilometre of electroluminescent wire isn’t. Captain ’t Hooft welcomes you aboard his spaceship!

The fascinating Professor ’t Hooft

In the field of quantum mechanics – the realm of the tiniest particles in existence – Professor Gerard ’t Hooft is one of the greats. Visitors to University Museum Utrecht got a chance to take a trip on the Nobel laureate’s theoretical spaceship. More than a kilometre of glowing lines created the illusion of a wireframe world.

“The only light comes from the glowing lines on the walls. It’s like some weird spaceship.”.”
