An unforgettable experience

We believe people need meaningful stories to better understand the world. The more we emotionally involve them in those stories, the better they’ll remember the message.

Content design for museums

A novel tells a story. A film tells a story. An exhibition tells a story too. We’ll help you to design yours. Our specialty is content design for museums – a design discipline that focuses on narrative.

We’ll lay your idea on our cutting table and take it apart. In a series of sessions, we’ll work with you to construct a powerful argument: a story with a theme, a narrative structure and a compelling angle. We'll also design the form in which visitors will encounter it, through the spatial environment, exhibits, objects and media.

Our method

Which film made you cry? Which novel made you laugh out loud? Those were probably great stories. They moved you, and they stayed with you. A good exhibition does the same thing. We make it happen through our own method: Emotion Design.

We start with the facts. What do we have to teach visitors? Facts alone aren’t enough, though. Why is it important for visitors to know about this? Facts require urgency and significance. How do visitors need to feel in order to be open to that significance? It's all about evoking emotion.

We’ll work with you to answer the above questions. Then we'll formulate a concept. This will serve as the compass that will help us to figure out the “how”. We’ll make rational decisions about how we want visitors to experience the story – from theme text to interactive, introduction to grand finale – guaranteeing that your exhibition will be an unforgettable experience.

Our core values

Collaboration

No one builds an exhibition alone. Co-creation is our fundamental principle.
We create every design in partnership with the museum’s team, using tools
such as pressure cooker sessions, design sessions, expert sessions and focus groups.

Multidisciplinarity

Designing for museums is a multidisciplinary process. We collaborate with spatial designers, architects and media producers. Each member of the team draws
on his or her own discipline to contribute to an unforgettable visitor experience.

Multiple perspectives

There are multiple sides to every story. We work with visitors, target groups and experts
to create stories with a message that make room for diverse points of view.
The stories we tell help people to better understand the world.

Organisation

The design process is complex. Our team is agile and led by dedicated,
content-focused project managers. They make sure we deliver our creative, content-focused work on time, on point and on budget.

“The sinking and aftermath is covered in a tasteful way and the last space (…) is very emotional and will stay with you forever.”

John Dyar, visitor Titanic Belfast
